Slow cows on the fast lane

Publié le 28 août 2009 par Gilles Poirier
I closed this chaoter may be a little bit too early, so I will add one last comment about India, and I do it on english, so english native speakers can follow at least once per chapter. My impression about India didn't change much since I visit it for the first time exactly 20 years ago. Even if at this time, I was here as a tourist and not for buiseness and that I was not in this part but further north, India remains the same, crowdy and with lot of contrasts. Wealthy people living beside extremely poors, huge mansions beside chanty towns, rubbishes beside palaces, huge modern cars and 2 cows tracted vehicles... I also noticed 20 years ago how it was slow to get anything, the reason is that the indian never decides alone, he his waiting for the boss to decide, or for the upper cast to decide for him. And very often, the boss is not there or late, even accordingly to indian time were an hour is much longer than our time, like 4 or 5 time longer. So everybody is waiting the consent og the authority, who, very often doesn't know what he has to approve. Another thing that you notice when you arrive in India is the absence of privacy. You are never alone and there is always someone looking behind your shoulder what you are reading or writing, it is not to annoy you as people are very polite and respestuous but it is just curiosity. But what can you expect in a country were there are more than 1 billion of people with a lot of them living directly in the street. And then you have also the same contrast with animals between the poor skiny dog battling for his survival and the wealthy slow cow who usually preffers the fast lanes of the road to walk or to sleep.
