Ce titre culte de 1975 est extrait du deuxième album "Say it ain't so Joe" de l'auteur-compositeur-interprète et acteur anglais Murray Head.

Le chanteur a tout juste 17 ans quand il signe ce tube mondial devenu le slow de l'année, malgré le fait qu'il s'agissait d'une chanson politique anti-Nixon! D'autres albums s'enchaîneront confirmant l'aura de Murray Head. Son dernier opus, sorti en novembre dernier, est un hommage aux artistes qui ont marqué sa vie. Il s'intitule "My back pages", il a été enregistré comme un live. Dans sa discographie on trouve aussi de jolis titres écrits et enregistrés en français, langue qu'il parle couramment. D'ailleurs, depuis trois ans il a élu domicile en France dans le Béarn près de Navarrenx (64). En 2011 paraît aux éditions Fetjaine son livre intitulé "Autobiographie en passant" co-signé par Jean-Éric Perrin.

Murray Head raconte volontiers que pour les Français il est chanteur et pour les Anglais il est acteur: "J'ai fait à peu près autant de films que de disques et ces deux vies m'apportent un équilibre. Je contrôle celle du chanteur-compositeur. En revanche, quand je tourne dans des films, ma vie appartient au producteur. Tout cela est finalement très complémentaire".

Et c'est en tant que chanteur qu'il s’apprête à retrouver la scène de l'Olympia à Paris (75) dans quelques jours, pour un concert exceptionnel le 5 juin, suivi d'une tournée sur les routes de France.
